I've noticed a surprising trend away from PTC's towards TE's i.e. Traffic Exchanges for the newbies. However when looking more closely, perhaps it is not so surprising at all...actually!
PTC's was originally seen as an easy, free and user friendly means to make money and was a boon to advertisers and marketers alike; offering cheap advertising and a receptive audience eager to get 'paid to click'. The industry experienced unprecedented growth, but with that also came the negatives........get-rich-quick schemes and scammers, which i imagine was further fuelled by an over-optimistic click crowd, who included many cheaters amongst them. The reputation of PTC suffered tremendously in the process! What happens in times of turmoil? Put differently.....the loss of one is the gain of another.....enter TE's.
A traffic exchange very simply put is precisely what its name suggest, i advertise my site for free, in return, i click, providing 'traffic' or a 'visit' to some other advertiser! It's a win-win situation - depending on your ability to market effectively and exploit the system - it can give some an unfair advantage. The advantage of TE's over PTC's is that nowadays, you can get both credits and cash for surfing, hence the one-up over PTC's,, plus the added bonus of payment for and from referrals.....and this without having to pay a cent ....IF YOU GO ABOUT IT PROPERLY.....and with a bit of patience.
I've been fortunate in not having paid a cent of investment for 80% of the programmes i promoted, when i did invest, in an upgrade or buying of refs, it is AFTER, i've reached minimum payout level and as such minimised the risk, by basically using their own money to invest! Apart from the cases such as Bux.to that turned out to be such a disappointment and still owe me a few hundred dollars, my experiences have been largely positive.
Drop me a post on whether you agree or not!

Warning: www.cool-traffic.com is a scam!
I'm currently in dispute with cool-traffic.com for repayment of my fees used to buy referrals. I'll keep you all updated on the progress. This is what happened.
I purchased 50 referrals, was given only 44, a few days later this was further reduced to 38. I did not worry too much, since a common practice is for either the payment processor or the merchant to deduct 'admin fees'. I queried it nevertheless, but received no response - ALARM bells started ringing!!
However, after some weeks have passed and even the 38 refs couldn't get me a single surf credit, i had to do something, i mean for a site that purports to have over 91000 surfers, this would be 'peanuts' as they say, alas this was not to be!
I tried every means possible to communicate, i.e. using the contact button/link provided on the site completing the form 'to the T'; replying to the emails i still get from them (just bounces back), etc.
So i've taken the final step...to lodge a complaint with the payprocessor ...to get my money back! It is currently under investigation...obviously they'd want to get the other side of the story first (which is suppose is only fair). My experience and gut feel though is that....it is going to turn out to be a scam!!
I've already contacted one of the most experienced TE webmasters cum administrator who has a TE ranking site, and he agrees with me, ......the prognosis doesn't look good!
The good part of it is that you've learnt from my mistake ( i hope), you'll also see that cool-traffic was not listed or being promoted on this site....evidence to you that i only promote the best and most reliable programs here....and i have been paid by them or have the results/ difference they've made since i signed up with them.
So you can put your trust in these programmes....remember though that even when some of the programmes are quite good at first, they could turn out to be frauds/scammers or not paying in the end, some by choice, others by circumstance!
Take care out there...

Another South African PTC site....going DOWN!
Easyclix have announced the closing of the PTC website at end of November 2010.
It's a shame really, but i must give guys over at easyclix some credit.....they really tried their utmost to keep it going! For me, a number of things about the site is significent: firstly, i must commend them on always responding ASAP to any queries i've had....and the were many - it was always resolved to my satisfaction (and i'm not easily pleased)! Secondly, the site layout was good, making it easy for new users to sign up and navigate. Thirdly, i've never had any issues w.r.t payment - come payout, there is no hassles.
The only thing that did bug me was the quality of the referrals and the allocation of refs. This was quickly sorted though after i complained. I wish all my other sites could be as accomodating.
So where did they go wrong? Not enough reserach before launch? Is our economy a tad small or perhaps not really geared to this type of marketing or advertising form? Was the payment system flawed or advertising rates too high...or maybe too low?
Yep, many questions....and i don't have the answers!
For me it comes to a focus on the source of revenue: if your main income is from advertising, then by all means get the word out.....cheap ads - lots of traffic, pricier ads - targeted traffic, etc. If your signed up members provide the bulk of income.....make it worth their while to stay members and recruit new members; a task i must admit is easier said than done! Make it exciting, have competitions, etc.
Anyway, wish them good luck in their next endevour and hope they'll take valuable lessons from this experience!

Scam list - 50 pages
I have a 50 page scam list that is available to anyone interested in registering with programs of the following type: work at home, paid surveys, PTC (Paid to Click), PTR (Paid to Read), PTS (Paid to Surf), earn online, home data entry, etc. For the list, leave a comment with your email address, so i mail it to you! alternatively send an email to vendgalaxy@gmail.com with "free scam list" in the subject line.
The list has been compiled from internet searches and feedback from online forums. It is by no means exhaustive and might even include some legitimate programs. In most cases it has been added due to overwhelmingly negative feedback. Also be aware that although some in the list have paid you, be cautious of further investment in the site if the general opinion is against the site. I have personal experience of having been paid at least twice initially, then on further investment and upgrade, the site folds!
My approach nowadays is to only register with site that have been in the game for at least 2 years. When registering with newer sites, i DO NOT INVEST ANY MONEY AT ALL, untill i've been paid, then i use that same money to upgrade or buy referrals. In this way i don't loose anything!
Yes it takes a bit longer before payout, but ...what's the rush? If your risk appetite is a bit bigger than mine, by all means go in with a vengeance...don't come back crying though.....i'll just say....I TOLD YOU SO!!
When it comes to referring these new sites, I DO NOT REFER UNTIL I'VE BEEN PAID. Of course there is no guarentee that the site won't fold before your payout or your referrals' payout, but at least my conscience is clear.
